Oscar Wilde was born in Dublin on the 6th of October 1854 into an upper-class Anglo-Irish family. He became known for his flamboyant style and great wit. He is best remembered as a playwright with his stage works such as Lady Windermere’s Fan, The Importance of being Earnest, A Woman of no Importance and The Picture of Dorian Grey bringing him international fame.
